Looking good hours after Us Weekly confirmed on Oct. 7 that Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford had welcomed their first child together, the new mom made made her first formal appearance since giving birth at a photocall for her new film, Suffragette, during British Film Institute’s London Film Festival. Smiling alongside her costars, Mulligan hid her post-baby body with a loose-fitting top and a full skirt.
But the Great Gatsby actress, 30, also attended the premiere of her new film that night, giving Us a much better look at her slim, toned figure in the process. Mulligan posed for photographers in a flattering, close-fitting ruffled frock by Chanel, looking every inch the radiant new mom. She completed the ensemble with black sandals by Salvatore Ferragamo and silver earrings, and wore her chestnut locks in tousled waves, parted in the center.
And she wasn’t the only one causing a stir on the carpet. Helena Bonham Carter sported her typical Victorian-inspired bouffant hairstyle with a sophisticated black dress with sheer stripes. The Harry Potter actress, 49, turned heads when she removed her tall pumps and walked barefoot for comfort’s sake.
Meryl Streep also posed for pictures — though she kept her shoes on — in a stunning, blue Lanvin gown. Streep, 66, always elegant, accessorized her plunging silk number with a gold clutch and matching gold baubles.
