Your summer anthem has arrived! Keith Urban premiered his new music video for ‘Wasted Time’ on Thursday, April 28, and Us Weekly has the exclusive first look.
The video was shot over two days in California and directed by John Urbano, who also worked with the country singer on “Cop Car” and “Somewhere In My Car.”
In it, the Australian star plays the banjo at an outdoor jam session, while clips of a group of friends hanging out and having fun flash by. It has all the ingredients of a classic high school summer — from bonfires to driving with the windows down to cliff jumping — and there’s even a summer romance documented with polaroids! “Ain’t it funny how the best days of my life was all that wasted time,” Urban sings.
“[Cowriter James ‘JHart’ Abrahart] suggested the title, and before we knew it, we were talking about growing up and all the things you do, no matter where you are in the world, and the song just took off from there,” Urban, 48, says of the catchy single in a press release.
This is the second video from the Grammy winner’s album Ripcord, which features collabs with Carrie Underwood, Pitbull and more and will be released on Friday, May 6. Urban is also gearing up for the start of his world tour with Brett Eldredge in June.
