Miss Piggy is ready for the spotlight — again! The Muppets is possibly getting a reboot at ABC, Deadline reports. The potential new series (cross your fingers!) is being developed by The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady and Bob Kushell.
The new series will center on Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang behind the scenes at a late-night talk show. But before viewers get the chance to see it, Prady has to pass one big test. He's currently co-writing a pilot presentation (aka a shorter version of the potential premiere episode) to present to ABC higher-ups. If all goes well, the concept could go straight to series.
The late Jim Henson created the original Muppet characters in 1955, with The Muppet Show running from 1976 to 1981. In 1996, they were briefly brought back for Muppets Tonight.
But as fans know, The Muppets franchise goes beyond television. Other projects have included films The Muppet Movie (1979), The Great Muppet Caper (1981), The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984), and Muppets From Space (1999). A decade later, Jason Segel brought back the beloved characters in The Muppets (2011). Last year, Muppets Most Wanted also hit theaters.
