We can’t wait! Liam Hemsworth battles aliens in the new trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence, released on Sunday, Dec. 13.
The Aussie hunk, 25, stars alongside Jeff Goldblum in the highly anticipated sequel to the hit 1996 movie that starred Will Smith and Vivica A. Fox.
Although Smith does not reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller, Goldblum returns as David Levinson, who has been helping the world use alien technology from the first film to prepare for another attack this time around.
“We always knew they would come back, but nothing can prepare us for when they arrive,” the tagline reads.
Meanwhile, Hemsworth is seen fighting aliens in the trailer — and, of course, looking as handsome as ever while doing so.
The film’s director, Roland Emmerich, announced in March that Hemsworth and Goldblum would be starring in the highly anticipated sequel, alongside Joey King and Jessie Usher, who has appeared in such TV shows as The Mentalist and Criminal Minds.
Independence Day starred Goldblum, Smith, Bill Pullman, Mary McDonnell, Vivica A. Fox, and Randy Quaid, and went on to gross a whopping $817 million worldwide. The film also earned an Oscar in the Best Effects, Visual Effects category.
