Sam Smith, John Legend Sing Beautiful “Lay Me Down” Duet for Red Nose Day 2015: Watch

Stunning! Sam Smith teamed up with John Legend to release a beautiful new version of his 2013 single “Lay Me Down.”

The two Grammy-winning artists collaborated on the soulful track in support of the UK’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day 2015. The biennial event is billed by the organization as the day “when people across the land can get together and do something funny for money at home, school and work,” and often involves big-name stars.

Past Red Nose Day songs have included One Direction’s cover of “One Way or Another,” and offerings from Susan Boyle and The Wanted. Smith, 22, and Legend, 36, released their contribution on Monday, March 9.

After Smith croons the first verses of “Lay Me Down,” Legend joins in, singing, “I’m reaching out to you / Can you hear my call? / This hurt that I’ve been through / I’m missing you, missing you like crazy.”

“So honoured to collaborate with such an incredible artist,” Smith tweeted on Monday morning, nodding to Legend. “Please do support the track, it is for a great cause.” Watch the “Lay Me Down” video above, and purchase the charitable track on iTunes for $1.29 now.
