Does presidential hopeful Donald Trump need a geography lesson? The billionaire took to Twitter on Thursday, January 7, to offer his unfiltered thoughts about the shooting of a knife-wielding man in Paris.

“Man shot inside Paris police station. Just announced that terror threat is at highest level. Germany is a total mess-big crime. GET SMART!” he wrote.

His words immediately led the phrase “Paris is in Germany” to start trending on Twitter as people online assumed Trump, 69, was implying that the French capital was located in Germany.

The shooting in Paris happened on the anniversary of the horrific Charlie Hebdo attacks and involved a man who was allegedly trying to attack a police station, BBC reports.

The GOP hopeful’s words could possibly have been misinterpreted, though, and could actually have been three separate thoughts about problems in Europe. On January 6, Trump also tweeted, “Germany is going through massive attacks to its people by the migrants allowed to enter the country. New Years Eve was a disaster. THINK!”

In the past, Trump has been outspoken about German chancellor Angela Merkel, who has allowed a wave of Syrian refugees into the country.

Merkel was named the 2015 Time magazine Person of the Year over Trump in December, and at the time he tweeted, “I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany.”

The conservative candidate has been very outspoken about immigration, calling for a short-term ban on Muslims coming into the United States until the government is able to sort out terrorists.
