Amy Duggar’s husband, Dillon King, isn’t too thrilled to be associated with all the negativity surrounding the Duggar clan, and on Friday, January 15, he wasn’t afraid to voice his opinion about it.
One day earlier, a commenter on the couple’s joint Facebook page shared an image of a job application with the words: “Fill out one of these and God will bless you with money.”
King, 28, did not take kindly to the implication that either he or Amy are getting a free ride, and responded back at length.
“I’m not sure you know who you’re talking to, this is Dillon not Amy,” he wrote. “And I’m not sure were you find the ‘grift’ thing to Amy or myself, we have never asked for money nor will we ever. … I’ve been working and punching a clock since I was 16 years old so I’m very aware of how going to work and making your own money really is. … I married into the Duggar family that doesn’t mean I don’t have a job … ”
Later on, the same commenter returned to the couple’s Facebook page with another message, suggesting that their September wedding was fully funded by advertisers.
“See, there you go with that whole ‘grifter’ thing again,” King shot back. “I’m beginning to think you all don’t know the meaning of the word. … To be called a ‘con artist is pretty insulting. And it does get under my skin. And you don’t know what you speak.”
King added that the fact that Amy’s wedding dress was gifted by companies did not make either of them a “con artist.”
“And by the way, since when does the bride ‘pay’ to have her own shower?” he continued. “I don’t know anyone that has gotten married and the bride ‘paid’ for her friends and family to shower her … That doesn’t even make [sense].”
Amy, also 28, and King tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Bentonville, Arkansas, on September 6.
Amy is the niece of patriarch Bob Duggar, and has appeared on the reality show on occasion. The 19 Kids and Counting family came under extreme scrutiny last year after it was revealed that eldest son Josh had molested five girls when he was 14 years old — four of whom were his sisters, including Jill and Jessa.
TLC canceled the hit reality series in the wake of the scandal.
Then, in July, news broke that Josh had cheated on his wife and mother of his four children, Anna. The troubled star admitted to being addicted to pornography and has since been seeking treatment in a long-term facility in Rockford, Illinois.
