So touching! Rory Feek’s daughter, Indiana, won’t leave his side just two weeks after mom Joey Feek’s death, according to a new photo posted on Instagram on Saturday, March 19.
In the shot, the 2-year-old toddler is pictured sitting patiently at her father’s feet with adorable pigtails in her hair.
“…Somebody won’t leave her papa’s side,” Rory, 49, wrote of his tiny human shadow.
Joey died at her home in Alexandria, Indiana, on Friday, March 4, at the age of 40, following a long battle with cervical cancer.
“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven,” Rory wrote in a blog post confirming her death. “The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.”
Rory, who was part of the country duo Joey+Rory with his late wife, documented their final days with Indiana on his personal blog, This Life I Live.
The dad of three daughters relocated to the couple’s farm in Tennessee after Joey’s death but returned to Alexandria with the tot, his only child with his late wife, on Sunday, March 13, for a touching memorial at Joey’s former high school.
“[This was] the same place where Joey had played basketball and volleyball and cheered for her home team,” he wrote on his blog. “I know my wife would’ve found a way to see the beauty in this sad day.”
