It’s a boy! Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and Chloe Mendel welcomed a son, Augustus Juppiter Corgan, on Monday, November 16, his rep tells Us Weekly.
This is the first child for the singer, 48, and the artist, 22, who is the daughter of fashion designers Gilles Mendel and Jenny Mui.
The pair lives in Chicago and work together at Corgan’s tea shop, Madame Zuzu’s, in the northern suburb of Highland Park. According to The New York Times’ T Magazine, Mendel also has studied at the Art Institute of Chicago.
The '90s rocker recently made headlines after sharing a heartfelt tribute to his late friend, Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 48.
“We mourn all that might have been,” Corgan wrote on his band’s website on Friday, December 4. “I find myself reflecting on what I do have: in scarce moments when Scott and I spoke as contemporaries and got to know each other as people… I’d try to make him giggle when I saw that the manic whirl of the dumb parties we were at might be causing undue stress. May I now say he is undoubtedly in the arms of grace and eternal love.”
