Mexican police have arrested six people for their alleged connection with the murder of Ali Landry’s brother-in-law and father-in-law, Federal police Chief Francisco Galindo confirmed to Fox News Latino. The arrest was made during an operation on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Tamaulipas, Mexico. According to Galindo, the suspects had six Central American migrants held hostage at the time of their arrest and are believed to be associated with at least 20 cases of kidnapping.

Two of those cases are the kidnapping and murder of Landry’s husband Alejandro Monteverde’s father, Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez, and brother, Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde. As previously reported, the father and son went missing on Sept. 4 and were eventually found dead on Sept. 19 in a remote part of Mexico’s Veracruz region; the pair had been kidnapped from their home in Tamaulipas. According to the local attorney general, the victims suffered traumatic brain injuries and head trauma.

On Monday, Nov. 9, Landry and her family members gathered for a special mass in honor of her in-laws. “A special mass for our family yesterday in Monterrey with family and friends. We are very grateful for all of your love and support!” she captioned a group photo on WhoSay.

Following their September deaths, Landry and her family members scattered the ashes of the two men on Sept. 23 off the coast of Tampico.

“This is a painful time, and we are still processing it all,” the former Miss USA winner wrote on WhoSay at the time. “What we have realized is that this journey through grief and loss is a marathon, not a sprint, and the only way to get through it is by the grace of God. We are determined not to allow this event to define them or our lives. We want to remember the beauty, the innocence, and the light that they represented, and to continue their legacy and always put family first.”
