Batkid Begins Trailer Celebrates Miles Scott’s Emotional Journey: Watch!

Here to save us all! The first trailer for the upcoming documentary Batkid Begins debuted on Wednesday, May 20, celebrating the unforgettable story of a little boy named Miles Scott.

The young man famously made headlines in mid-2013, when he was granted his wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation after going through his final round of treatments for leukemia. Scott, who was first diagnosed with the disease when he was just 18 months old, became a superhero for a day thanks to thousands of supporters and volunteers.

Due out from Warner Bros., Batkid Begins traces Scott’s story from his treatments to the day that he became a worldwide phenomenon. The first look at the emotional flick opens with sweeping shots of San Francisco before introducing the child’s parents.

“Miles always liked all superheroes but he always kind of comes back to Batman,” Scott’s father Nick explains in the trailer. “Natalie called me screaming and crying and said Miles has leukemia. One of his doctors told us that with this disease they just become like, a fighter. They fight for life. I think he sees the good versus evil battle in superheroes.”

Scott’s mother Natalie then reveals that her son’s exact wish was to be the real Batman, as Scott explained, “’cause he’s my favorite superhero.” As many know, the dream was pulled off in a big way.

San Francisco became Gotham City for the pint-sized hero, who was accompanied on his journey in November 2013 by an adult Batman. The two, along with thousands of spectators and participants, spent hours saving the day over and over again.

As the trailer shows, famous faces from Batman actors to President Barack Obama became a part of the special day, cheering Batkid on as he got his wish. “He gave everybody license to just be a little absurd,” added Dark Knight composer Hans Zimmer. “Live their little dreams a little bit.”
