Talk about lip service! For her MTV EMAs hosting gig on Sunday, Oct. 25, in Italy, Ruby Rose‘s fashion was as on point as ever — just look at her custom ball gown above — but the real showstopper was her makeup.
“We really wanted to pull out all the stops for this big moment for Ruby and with seven wardrobe changes, it gave me a great opportunity to be able to play with the looks and change up the makeup as we went along,” Rose’s makeup artist, Toby Fleischman, told Us Weekly.
Stunning as always, the Orange Is the New Black star, 27, modeled a light, shimmering palette on her face: Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup as foundation, the brand’s Brow Beater Brow Pencils in “Taupe” and “Neutral Brown” for even fuller brows, and Moondust Eyeshadow in “Space Cowboy” for a dusting of shimmer above and below her lashes.
But the true piece de resistance? A rotation of three different lipsticks, which helped to completely transform her look with just a few well-placed swipes.
Before the show even began, Rose, whose high cheekbones have often been compared to those of Justin Bieber‘s, hit the red carpet in Urban Decay’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in “Stark Naked,” a neutral hue.
Then, the former MTV VJ slipped into the epic dress above. And as her name is Ruby and the dress said Ruby, it was only fitting that Rose would work a ruby lip shade, too — the Matte Revolution Lipstick once more in “Bad Blood.” “Because we started with a more clean look on the red carpet, it made it easy to build upon that as the show went on,” Fleischman told Us. “Her first outfit for the show was the amazing Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown, so that was a no brainier to go with a classic red lip to mirror the dress.”
Finally, the Aussie DJ-turned-actress slipped into a corset-style dress, all tied up with edgy yellow rope. “As the night went on, we went with a fuchsia stain to complement the bright yellow ‘spaghetti dress,'” Fleischman said of the Matte Revolution Lipstick in “After Dark.”
