Ariana Grande Drops New Single “Focus” an Hour Ahead of Schedule, Creates Internet Frenzy

Ariana Grande debuted her new single focus in the early hours of Friday, Oct. 30 — and she set the Internet into a spin by releasing the new song an hour ahead of schedule.

Jumping on Twitter at 3:01 a.m. the “Problem” singer’s hour-early message immediately started trending as she revealed to fans that the wait was finally over, and they were able to access her newest release 60 minutes earlier than anticipated.

“Surprise !!!! it’s here!!!!,” the 22-year-old performer wrote, adding a link to the track on iTunes. “i really feel like I just gave birth………………….” Grande followed up in a second tweet. “#FOCUS IS FINALLY HERE less than 1 hour till the video.”

As promised, an hour later she shared the link to her clip (directed by Hannah Lux Davis, who helmed Grande’s videos for “Bang Bang” with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, and “Love Me Harder” with The Weeknd), which showed off her new peroxide-blonde hairdo and an array of sexy dance moves.

One celeb who certainly enjoyed Grande’s new release was Demi Lovato, who quickly tweeted her approval.

“Ummm… @ArianaGrande – you look GORGEOUS and sound amazing in your new vid…obsessed!!” Lovato wrote, before sharing the song’s link on Vevo.

The controversial, donut-licking performer will perform her live debut of her latest song on Saturday, Oct. 31, to celebrate Halloween at the Ariana Grande World Premiere Event On The Honda Stage at the iHeartRadio Theater LA, which will be live streamed on iHeartRadio.com/HondaStage.
