So dramatic and so random! Kanye West auditioned for American Idol for the show’s upcoming farewell season — and boy, was he … not really nervous. The rapper was all smiles as he got ready to perform for judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.
West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, was present for the stunty tryout, which was taped back in October. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, shared a sneak peek of the footage via Twitter on Tuesday, December 22.
“My name is Kanye. I’m from the South Side of Chicago. I’m originally a producer,” West, 38, says in the clip. “[I] always wanted to rap, but no one ever believed in me. So I wanted to try some things out.”

Kardashian stood outside with host Ryan Seacrest during the audition. “I’m not nervous, because I do really believe in him,” she told her longtime friend and KUWTK executive producer.
Kardashian, pregnant with baby boy Saint at the time, waited patiently for her beau to come through the door. As West peeked his head out, she quipped: “Did you make it to Hollywood?”
