No hard feelings here! Adrienne Bailon wishes nothing but happiness for her ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian, who recently started dating model Blac Chyna.
“I’m happy for him,” the former Cheetah Girl, who attended the Kids Rock! Shop Day on Thursday, February 4, tells Us Weekly. “He deserves happiness so I’m happy for him. He seems happy.”
Although Bailon, 32, and Kardashian, 28, are not currently in touch, the singer says that she’s only ever “wished the best” for the reclusive reality star since they called it quits on their relationship back in 2009 after dating for two years.
“He’s a great guy. I always say that,” she tells Us. “We were in love at one point, and I think when you’re younger, what is that, hindsight is 20/20? You look back, and you’re just like, ‘We were young and in love,’ and life goes on. You wish that person the best. You always wish well on people.”
As for Kardashian’s burgeoning relationship with Chyna, 27, Bailon says she isn’t surprised that it’s helping the Arthur George sock designer get his life back on track after battling depression and weight gain, as documented on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
“I think people fall in love with who they fall in love with,” the Real cohost says.
Bailon’s cool comments come in sharp contrast to her 2014 interview with Latina magazine, in which she noted that being associated with Kardashian had affected her personal brand.
“To be stuck with that Kardashian label, that was so hurtful to me and to my career,” she said at the time. “I probably realized that too late — not that it would’ve affected my decisions in terms of who I dated, but it would’ve affected my decision to appear on the show.”
Following her split from Kardashian, Bailon got engaged to Roc Nation exec Lenny Santiago after six years of dating, but the pair called off their seven-month engagement in September 2015.
At present, the singer is back in the dating world and “excited” about spending Valentine’s Day with a new man.
