Chrissy Teigen continued to defend herself on Wednesday, February 24, after tweeting up a storm earlier that afternoon about selecting her baby’s gender through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The pregnant model, 30, who’s currently expecting her first child with her husband, John Legend, revealed in an interview on Wednesday that they opted for a baby girl during the process. Critics were quick to go after her for the decision to use gender selection, which prompted the outspoken beauty to respond via Twitter.

“For the record, I am always happy and open to speak on infertility. The more casual, the better! I don’t mind,” she tweeted initially on Wednesday. “What is that difference though? I’ve already created embryos with a doctor. only after must it be random?” She concluded her updates by warning fans to “stop looking HERE for s–t to be mad at. there are so many other things that deserve your outrage.”

Hours later, a more reflective Teigen returned to Twitter to further defend herself and address the backlash. She also broke down the process for those who weren’t familiar with IVF and her struggle with infertility.

Teigen announced this past December that she and Legend were expecting a baby girl. In an interview with People on Wednesday, she explained why they picked a daughter.

“I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me,” she said. “It excited me to see … just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond. A boy will come along. … And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa.”
