Susan Sarandon Suggests Donald Trump Would Make a Better President Than Hillary Clinton

Staunch Bernie Sanders supporter Susan Sarandon suggested to MSNBC’s Chris Hayes in a heated segment on Monday, March 28, that Donald Trump would make a better president than Hillary Clinton.

“I really want to be on the right side of history,” Sarandon, 69, explained on All In with Chris Hayes. “And this is a shot that we’re not going to have again in my lifetime to have a candidate that is so morally consistent, makes decisions whose judgment proves to be true.”

The left-leaning actress, who’s been campaigning for Sanders across the country, also addressed the issue of why the Vermont senator’s supporters would have a difficult time supporting Clinton should she win the Democratic nomination.

“That’s a legitimate concern, because they’re very passionate and very principled,” the Oscar winner replied, arguing that Clinton isn’t on the same wavelength as Sanders. “She’s accepted money from all those people. She doesn’t even want to fight for a $15 minimum wage, so these are people that have not been — that have not come out before, so why would we think they’re going to come out now for her.”

“They feel like she’s not authentic, that she’s a liar, that they don’t trust her, so what difference does it make?” Sarandon continued, adding later: “She’s not on the right side of that. She hasn’t voted right.”

Hayes then brought up the issue of how Sanders supporters could potentially vote for Republican front-runner Trump instead of Clinton, if it came to that. “Well, you know, some people feel Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately,” Sarandon implied. “If he gets in, then things will really explode.”

When Hayes asked her if that was a dangerous suggestion Sarandon concluded: “The status quo is not working. I think it’s dangerous to think that we can continue the way we are … to think you can’t do something huge to turn that around, because the country is not in good shape if you’re in the middle class.”
