Tom’s temper tantrum! Leah Remini rolls out one bombshell after another in her tell-all, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology. In the book, which hit stands on Tuesday, Nov. 3, the actress claims that Tom Cruise once had a meltdown while trying to bake cookies.

The incident allegedly occurred when Remini and her husband, Angelo Pagan, visited Cruise and his then-wife Katie Holmes at their Los Angeles home. According to Remini, the Mission: Impossible actor decided to bake cookies for his guests, but quickly became upset when he couldn’t find any ingredients in his kitchen. He began to reportedly scream at his assistants, even though there was a batch of prepackaged cookie dough on the table in front of him.

“‘Guys, where’s the cookie stuff?'” Remini recalled Cruise saying. “Goddamn it! Can I just get the stuff for the cookies, guys? Get in the f—king present time, is what you need to do.'”

Remini alleges that Holmes whispered in Cruise’s ear at one point to calm him down. The King of Queens alum, meanwhile, felt like his assistants were too skittish to point out that the cookie dough was in his arm’s reach.

“Tom seemed like a child who had never been told no,” Remini wrote. “The whole scene was so painful to watch that I had to step in. ‘Oh, wait,’ I said, as if I had just discovered something. ‘Tom, is this it?’ Cruise replied back: ‘Oh, thanks.'”

The situation made a lasting impression on Remini. So much so, that she now has a theory as to why Sea Org members often watched over the Mena star, by far the most well-known member of the Church of Scientology. “It was to make sure nothing upset Tom,” Remini wrote, noting that if anything did it would be reported to the church leader, David Miscavige.

As previously reported, Remini began studying Scientology when she was 9 years old. She left the church after 30 years in July 2013. This past May, she told Oprah Winfrey that her decision had a lot to do with her 11-year-old daughter, Sofia.

“I don’t think people know the amount of dedication it takes to be in this organization,” she said at the time. “I mean it was every day, three-and-a-half hours minimum, seven days a week usually. You know, I’m working most of my time, and then the other time was spent at the church, so minimal time is really spent with your family.”

Meanwhile, the church has denied the actress’ claims in a statement to ABC after her 20/20 interview. “Sadly, bitterness and anger are common threads through Ms. Remini’s life. Rather than take responsibility for self-inflicted problems, she is quick to blame others,” the Church of Scientology wrote in the statement on its website. “Her repeated ethical lapses and callous treatment of others led to an ecclesiastical review which resulted in her being expelled. She now regurgitates the tired myths the Church has repeatedly debunked, circulated by the same tiny clique of expelled former staffers bitter at having lost the positions they enjoyed before their malfeasance and unethical conduct were uncovered.”
