Steve Carell’s Mom, Harriet Carell, Died the Day Before Mother’s Day at Age 90

Steve Carell’s mom, Harriet Carell, passed away at age 90 on Saturday, May 7, just a day before Mother’s Day 2016.

The 53-year-old actor confirmed the sad news on Twitter. “Harriet Theresa Carell, October 15, 1925- May 7, 2016, Love You Mom,” he wrote. He also retweeted kind words from a fan along with a sweet photo of the mother-son duo hugging and laughing.

Kathleen Doran Boyle, director of the Acton Funeral Home, says Harriet died at her Massachusetts home surrounded by family, the Associated Press reports.

“Harriet loved flea markets, making preserves, spending time with her family, and was a great fan of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, whom she referred to as her ‘boyfriend,'” an online obituary read. “She worked for over 30 years as a psychiatric nurse at Emerson Hospital in Concord.”

Aside from Steve, she is survived by her three other sons and six grandchildren, the obituary says, and a funeral mass will be held in June.
