Better to have loved and lost … but not your money. Mariah Carey stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday, May 17, to clear up some of the rumors about her upcoming wedding to billionaire fiancé James Packer.
“Will there be a prenup?” Cohen asked. “You’re both very valuable.”
“We want prenup. We want prenup,” Carey sang, quoting Kanye West’s 2005 hit song “Gold Digger.” “Look, everybody’s valuable.”
Carey, one of the best-selling artists of all time, has an estimated net worth of $510 million, but the Australian businessman, 48, is worth a staggering $4.7 billion, according to Forbes.
While she was all for the prenuptial agreement, the Mariah’s World star shut down reports that she wants a circus-themed wedding. “No, that really made me mad. These people really want to tell me I want endangered animals at my wedding” she asked. “I mean, I have several dogs.”
The superstar also skirted questions about who will be best man when the late-night host suggested her close friend Brett Ratner. “Let’s not talk about that anymore,” she said. “I like that, but I’m not going to say anything else.”
Packer popped the question to the “We Belong Together” singer with a massive 35-carat engagement ring in NYC in January after less than a year of dating. This will be the third marriage for Carey, who shares 5-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon. Previously, she was married to record executive Tommy Mottola for five years. They divorced in 1997.
