Simply to dye for! Kim Kardashian, Lily Aldridge and Katy Perry all wore unique looks to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala 2016 on May 2, but the trio had one thing in common: their dramatically different eyebrows.

For Kardashian, who wowed in Balmain, Cesar Ramirez, Mizani’s global artistic director, explained that he wanted the focus to be on the metallic gown. “I had to flex my colorist skills,” he told Us Weekly about lightening her brows. After, celeb makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic used the waterproof Sephora Collection Retractable Brow Pencil in Honey Blonde ($12, sephora.com) to color them.

Aldridge, 30, also glittered on the red carpet with colored eyebrows. The model chose a gold Michael Kors dress that boasted over 140,000 crystals. To complement her glittering gown, Aldridge’s makeup artist Quinn Murphy painted her brows instead of bleaching them, using shade number five from Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Style Eye-Con No.7 palette in The Starlet ($59, sephora.com).

Perry’s decision to dye was a last-minute one: Just minutes before the ball, the 31-year-old “Roar” singer went white despite everyone telling her it was a “horrible” idea, per the Snapchat of her date, Vanity Fair’s Derek Blasberg. But her brows allowed the focus to remain on her bold Prada. The black, midnight blue and emerald green gown with gold embroidery and a full train skirt enhanced her dark lip and dramatic beehive. Todd Delano, her makeup artist for the night, swiped on Perry’s own shade from her CoverGirl collection: Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Perry Panther ($6.94, walmart.com).
