A DJ just wouldn’t cut it for San Antonio, Texas teenager Maya Henry’s quinceañera. On the lineup at the over-the-top February 12 bash thrown by her father, Thomas J. Henry: Nick Jonas and Pitbull!
Maya’s mom Azteca told TMZ that her attorney husband shelled out “just under a million” to secure Pitbull, while the “Jealous” singer set him back a couple hundred thousand dollars. And this wasn’t a backyard bash, either: Each entertainer performed for an hour at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, which overlooks breathtaking canyons.
“It was a truly unforgettable night,” Maya, 15, tells Us Weekly. “I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family and will remember this night for as long as I live.”
Her proud dad tells Us: “Maya is an incredible young woman who has already accomplished a great deal in her life… we were happy to do this for her.”
The high-school freshman wore two custom Rolando Santana dresses — each worth a staggering $20,000 — and her family arrived to the celebration in a fleet of Rolls Royces. Photographer Donna Newman, who has worked with Matt Damon and First Lady Michelle Obama, was hired to capture all of Maya’s special moments.
David Monn, a New York-based party planner spent a year organizing the tented bash, which featured more than twenty 30-foot-tall cherry blossom trees in full bloom to create a springtime feel. Other special touches: thousands of spray roses in varying shades of pinks.
“We wanted to create something that gives people the experience they have not had before,” Monn told MYSA.com. “That’s really what I’m hoping for.”
He added: “Let’s just say this quinceañera is a very blessed quinceañera.”
All 600 revelers took home custom mini raspberry cakes created by The Fashion Chef.
Maya— who campaigns for Teens for Hillary Clinton — is no stranger to celebrities. Her Instagram page is littered with pictures of her with big time stars, including Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry.
