Gaby Hoffmann Recalls Visiting Neverland Ranch With Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian

We’re going to Neverland! In a new interview with HuffPost Live on Tuesday, Dec. 8, Transparent star Gaby Hoffmann reminisced about the time she and classmates Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian visited Michael Jackson’s famed Neverland Ranch together in the ‘90s.

The Girls actress, 33, explained that she went to private school in L.A. for two years, where she met Richie, 34, and Kardashian, 35.

“In those two years, I happened to be in school with these girls,” Hoffmann recalled. “Nicole Richie invited me to her birthday party and it was at Michael Jackson’s Neverland!”

She added, “I wasn’t even really friends with Nicole. I don’t know why she invited me to this party. And I don’t really remember ever talking to Kim Kardashian . . . I don’t know how I ended up there!”

The late King of Pop, who was Richie’s godfather, wasn’t home at the time, but the three girls were ecstatic to meet his furry friends.

“I did get to meet A.J. and Bubbles, the chimps,” Hoffmann said, laughing. “I actually didn’t care that much that Michael wasn’t there because I got to meet the chimps.”

Hoffmann currently stars on Transparent, a show that centers around a father of three, played by Jeffrey Tambor, who transitions into a woman. The show won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy back in January, with Tambor also winning for Best Actor.

The show gained even more attention this year when Caitlyn Jenner made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair and shed some light on the transgender community.

“I think that anybody coming out and saying, ‘This is who I am and let me show it to you . . .’ is good for the world,” Hoffmann explained of the 66-year-old reality star. “It’s true that most people in the trans community don’t have the incredible wealth and privilege that Caitlyn does. I don’t think that, in any way, diminishes her struggle in her own transitioning.”

She added, “I think that the fact that we had a trans woman on the cover of Vanity Fair . . . is only good for the trans community. I can’t imagine that the more we talk about this that it’s not just doing everybody a lot of good.”
