Yee-haw! Miley Cyrus honored the 10th anniversary of Hannah Montana’s premiere by revealing she’s officially buried her character in the past. The now tongue-baring, outspoken 23-year-old gave her former costar Jason Earles a shoutout while reminiscing on her Disney days via Instagram on Thursday, March 24.
“@realdukeofearles understands the insanity of it all….. Sending love to all my cast members on this anniversary …. To the world it’s a celebration of 10 years but for us the journey began way before the world had any clue who the f–k any of us are ….. There was a very long auditioning process, and many chemistry reads which really is what sold the show to the producers and channel because no matter what went on over the years (which none of you have any clue about but It was like the real world but more hormonal teenagers) our love for each other was unquestionable…. Even though I feel disconnected to who I was at that time I will always feel eternally grateful for the opportunity and platform I was given,” Cyrus captioned an Instagram image of a text conversation between herself and Earles, who played her older brother, Jackson, on the hit Disney show.
“None of it would have been possible with out every single person who ever contributed to the series …. From regulars , to special guests (and there were many magical ones @dollyparton 💞) to creators, crew , directors,” she continued. “I am where I am because of loyal fans that I am thankful for and of course love dearly all the new angels who support me now….. Even though HM is chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in my backyard she will always hold a very special place in my heart! Celebrate this day with us! Although the show catapulted Cyrus into stardom, the “Wrecking Ball” singer revealed to Marie Claire in August 2015 that it kept her from having a normal childhood.
“I was made to look like someone that I wasn’t, which probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, ‘Who the f–am I?’” she told the magazine. “From the time I was 11, it was, ‘You’re a pop star! That means you have to be blonde, and you have to have long hair, and you have to put on some glittery tight thing.’ Meanwhile, I’m this fragile little girl playing a 16-year-old in a wig and a ton of makeup. It was like Toddlers & Tiaras. I had f–ing flippers.”
Cyrus portrayed the mega-popular character from 2006 to 2011.
“Every morning, I was getting coffee jammed down my throat to wake me up,” she recalled. “I just had to keep going, be tough, be strong.”
