This takes strobing to a whole new level. Makeup artist Mariya Lyubashevskaya answered a very serious beauty question on her YouTube channel in a video posted on Tuesday, May 24: What happens when you apply a full face of makeup using only highlighters?
The answer? Two words: shimmer everywhere. In the mesmerizing clip, which has since gone viral, Lyubashevskaya uses illuminators (and that’s all) for a wild, futuristic effect that has her lit up from every angle.
“Lmao what you guys think about my highlight & contour routine using ALL highlighters 😂 I’ve honestly been dying to see what it’d look like, now I know and it’s kinda pretty cool. 😏😂😍,” the self-taught beauty guru wrote via Instagram, before admitting it’s “definitely not a wearable makeup look,” and it’s just “for fun.”
To start, the beauty blogger, who has nearly 40,000 followers on her @mariya.ae Instagram page, even uses a highlighter as her foundation. First she instantly adds shine and subtle color with Lush Skin Tint in “Feeling Younger” ($20, lushusa.com), before reinforcing with Nars Liquid Illuminator in “Copacabana” ($30, narscosmetics.com).
Even her setting powder, Makeup Addiction Cosmetics Light Reflecting Loose Powder in “Snow Gold” ($20, makeupaddictioncosmetics.com), has a pearlescent sheen. Next up, Lyubashevskaya puts her contouring skills to the test, adding an illuminating gold bronzer, The Balm Betty-Lou Manizer ($24, thebalm.com), to the hollows of her cheeks, her jawline and hairline.
She also uses strobing blush, eye shadow and lip tint to complete her look. In total, Lyubashevskaya applies seven different illuminating products to achieve her celestial beauty vibes, only detouring from her light-reflecting promise in her mascara, false lashes and lip color base.
What do you think of her all-highlighter makeup tutorial?
