Talk about truth, justice and the American way! Henry Cavill took a page from Superman’s code when he chatted with Man of the World (via Entertainment Tonight) for his new cover story.
The British thespian, who portrayed the Man of Steel in the 2013 film of the same title, was genuine when discussing with the magazine one of the reason’s why he’s acting.
“I’m slightly wary of saying this because it can be frowned upon, certainly by members of my community and people outside my community … but I’m not just doing this for the art,” the 32-year-old said. “The money’s fantastic and that’s something which I deem — and again, it is frowned upon — very important.”
Cavill, who is reprising his role as Clark Kent opposite Ben Affleck in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, admits that earning large sums of money allows him to enjoy the finer things in life, and not only that, to share the wealth with those nearest and dearest to him.
“When I’m making money, I’m spending it on stuff, whether that be lavish holidays for me and my friends, or just seeing something and going in a shop and saying, ‘Yeah, I want that for the house,’ and buying it,” he noted. “Spending money on my friends, buying dinner for everyone, drinks for everyone, it’s a nice place to be, and I like people to feel cared for.”
While the handsome actor may be a fan of raking in the cash with his movie projects, he’s also giving back. Cavill is a spokesperson for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, which aims to save species from extinction, and launched the Cavill Conservation in 2014 to help raise money for the group’s efforts.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25.
