Saturday Night Live Recap: Will Ferrell Returns as George W. Bush, Chris Hemsworth Dresses in Drag

Did you miss me? Will Ferrell made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live on Saturday, Dec. 12, reprising his role as former president George W. Bush — and the comedian had a few choice words about this year’s GOP presidential hopefuls.

In the cold open for the episode, Ferrell, 48, donned his familiar furrowed brow and pouty face as the 43rd president, announcing that he had decided to throw his hat in the ring in a presidential bid too.

“The field of Republicans out there is so messed up, I figured you all miss me, don’t you?”

Ferrell-as-Bush added that he even had a theme song picked out for his campaign: The Fugees’ “Ready or Not.”

He then proceeded to run through the list of candidates, including Dr. Ben Carson (“I can barely hear him when he talks!”), Carly Fiorina (“She’s not qualified to be president…reminds me of me”), and Jeb Bush (“It’s a pretty good plot twist that I turned out to be the smart one”).

But his best digs were reserved for GOP front-runner Donald Trump, whom he just couldn’t stop laughing at.

“I’ll tell you something, whenever I’m feeling bad, I just picture his big bad Oompa Loompa face and I just piss my pants,” he said, calling Trump a “knucklehead.”

Ferrell-as-Bush added that Trump’s recent call to keep all Muslims out of America was like trying to keep all leprechauns out of the country.

“Not a good idea, difficult to implement, and not what this country is about,” he said.

Host Chris Hemsworth got his chance to shine throughout the night as well, with sketches about a pirate named Mark, a Broadway tune that just won’t end, and a cop who won’t stop doing his duty even as he’s bleeding to death.

One of his funnier sketches involved this year’s Sexiest Man Alive dressing in drag as Claire to infiltrate a ladies’ lunch and find out if women still found Chris Hemsworth attractive.
