Even superheroes are human. Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill sat down for an interview with Yahoo! Movies on Thursday, March 24, to promote their latest film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was recently trashed by movie critics — and the video of Affleck’s heartbroken reaction to the reviews has gone viral!
While Cavill, 32, sincerely noted during the interview that fans’ opinions are more important than what critics think, Affleck stared off into space, with a look of sadness in his eyes. The viral clip of ‘Sad Affleck’ was originally uploaded by YouTube user Sabconth, who slowly zoomed in on the 43-year-old actor’s woeful face and dubbed the video with Simon & Garfunkel’s hit “The Sound of Silence.”
A handful of review headlines are also shown throughout the video, including “‘Batman v Superman’ Will Make You Hate Batman, Superman and the Justice League” and “‘Batman v Superman’ Review: This Movie Is a Crime Against Comic Book Fans.”
Batman v Superman currently has a 30 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, its projected $170 million opening is set to be Warner Bros.’ best opening of all time, according to Deadline.
As the original clip made it way across the Internet, creative fans started to create supercuts of their own, including one hilarious version dubbed with the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song.
Perhaps Affleck is also still hurting over his separation from Jennifer Garner. The actor recently told CBS This Morning, “Life doesn’t always turn out exactly the way you want. We’re doing our very best and we’re putting our kids first.”
