Leave it to Beyoncé to drop an entire activewear brand on the Internet out of the blue.
Sharing a steamy pic of herself in a swimsuit, the “Run the World” singer, 34, simply wrote the brand name’s handle, “@weareIivypark,” on Thursday, March 31.
The line, Ivy Park, which was first announced way back in October 2014, marks Beyoncé’s first with Topshop’s Sir Philip Green. The collection, which includes swimwear, leggings, tops and more, will be available for purchase in Topshop and Nordstrom stores and on topshop.com and nordstrom.com.
In the introduction video, Bey shares the inspiration behind the name in a detailed monologue as she models swimsuits, sports bras and leggings.
“I would wake up in the morning and my dad would come knocking on my door, tell me it’s time to go running,” she starts. “I remember wanting to stop, but I would push myself to keep going. [Running in the park] taught me discipline and I would think about my dreams. I would think about the sacrifices my parents made for me. I would think about my little sister and how I was her hero. I would look at the beauty around me — the sunshine through the trees. I would keep breathing.”
Through the video, we understand that her running route became much more to her than just pretty scenery. “There are things I’m still afraid of. When I have to conquer those things I still go back to that park. Before I hit the stage I go back to that park. When it was time for me to give birth I went back to that park. The park became a state of mind. The park became my strength. The park is what made me who I am. Where’s your park?”
