Fridays are for reflecting. Connie Britton responded with a touching Instagram post on Friday, May 13, to ABC’s announcement that Nashville — along with a slew of other shows — will be canceled after this season, its fourth.

“To the amazing friends and family who are Nashville, to the cast and crew, and most of all to the fans…I’d just like to say it’s been my honor to be a part of this world, to live in it and breathe it in and try to replicate it,” she captioned a photo of herself performing on the show. “Sometimes we were more successful than others. But the place of Nashville in my heart is deep and permanent. I am grateful for the hard work and faith of so many who dedicated themselves to creating and supporting this show. And I am forever changed for the better. Thanks for the music.”

On the series, the 49-year-old actress portrays fading country music star Rayna Jaymes opposite Hayden Panettiere, who plays up-and-coming superstar Juliette Barnes.

Several of the series’ main actors took to Twitter to express their sadness over the show’s ending.

News of ABC’s decision to pull the plug on Nashville comes in conjunction with Panettiere’s announcement Thursday that she has checked herself into a treatment facility.

“The postpartum depression I have been experiencing has impacted every aspect of my life,” the 26-year-old actress shared via Twitter. “Rather than stay stuck due to unhealthy coping mechanisms I have chosen to take time to reflect holistically on my health and life. Wish me luck!”

Though the show is ending its four-season run on the network, there’s still hope for fans. Lionsgate is currently shopping the popular series around for a possible second life elsewhere.
