Matt Lauer is seriously committed to the Today Show's annual Halloween extravaganza. To pull off his headline-making 2013 costume — as a Baywatch-era Pam Anderson, complete with a blonde wig and snug red swimsuit — the anchor, 55, suffered where it counts.
"The hardest part [was] putting on the device," Lauer told Ellen DeGeneres on a Wednesday Nov. 13 episode of her daytime talk show. "It's called a concealer is what it is," the NBC vet added, quipping that a more apt name for the "concealer" would be "a testicle vice — that's what it is!"
Gathering with the Today Show wardrobe team for about half an hour, Lauer described the process. "I'm in the dressing room and I get naked and then you put this thing on. I've never put Spanx on, but I would imagine it's sort of Spanx times ten," he joked. "And it's intentionally twenty sizes too small."
"So it's to flatten you down?" DeGeneres asked.
"It's more than flatten you down!" Lauer said of the painful experience. "I've had my kids though. I'm alright," said the father of two.
And while DeGeneres complimented him on his "great legs" and taut figure, Lauer wasn't sure whether it was an apt tribute to Anderson. "I look more like Dee Snider with fake boobs!"
