Robin Thicke’s Mom Reacts to Miley Cyrus MTV VMA Performance: “I Don’t Understand”

Robin Thicke's mom Gloria Loring says she doesn't "understand" Miley
Robin Thicke's mom Gloria Loring says she doesn't "understand" what Miley Cyrus was trying to do with her raunchy MTV VMA performance.

Mama Thicke has spoken. Fans weren't the only ones shocked by Miley Cyrus's raunchy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. Robin Thicke's own mother, Gloria Loring, tells omg! INSIDER that she was confused by the former Disney star's rachet behavior onstage.

"I don't understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do," the former Days of Our Lives actress said. "I think she's misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial."

"I didn't get what her point was," Loring continued. "It was so over the top as to almost be a parody of itself."

On Sunday, Aug. 25, Cyrus stunned audience members when she stripped down to nude-colored underwear and gyrated inappropriately as she and Thicke, 36, performed his summer hit, "Blurred Lines."

The 20-year-old singer shamelessly cavorted about the stage and at one point even used a giant foam finger to touch Thicke inappropriately and make lewd gestures.

"It's the VMAs, of course she's going to do a standout performance," a source told Us. "No one was freaking out or shocked by this."

Those close to Thicke, meanwhile, maintain that the singer "had a great time" doing the performance, despite speculation that Cyrus' over-the-top antics overwhelmed the R&B singer.

"He had fun and was fine with how it came out," the Thicke source said. "He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time."
