That probably wasn’t part of the act! After Tina Fey heckled host Neil Patrick Harris to twerk on stage like Miley Cyrus and take his pants off, she herself suffered an accidental wardrobe malfunction on stage at the 2013 Emmy Awards in L.A. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
The 43-year-old 30 Rock creator took the stage with fellow writer Tracey Wigfield to accept the award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. As Fey was moving to allow Wigfield to take the mic, her cobalt blue Narcisco Rodriguez halter gown gaped in the front, exposing a peek of her breasts. Astute viewers were able to spot the slight (blink and you’ll miss it) nip slip from afar, and “Tina Fey nip slip” quickly became a trend online.
During the opening act of the 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Fey participated in a sketch with Golden Globes cohost and pal Amy Poehler to goad host Harris into disrobing for the audience. “Take your pants off,” Fey shouted. “And twerk it. I come to award shows for the twerking.”
“No, I’m not going to do that. That would be degrading,” the How I Met Your Mother actor said.
“Yeah, it might be degrading, but we would be de-grateful,” Poehler joked.
“Why do you guys have 3-D glasses on?” Harris asked.
“So I can see your business up close,” Fey quipped. “Yo NPH, take those pants off,” Poehler yelled. “America wants to see what you’re working with!”
