The artist has spoken. Prince officially released a 48-second snippet of his new single, “Breakfast Can Wait,” via Twitter on Friday, Aug. 16 — and as it turns out, the Purple One has a sense of humor.
The “Purple Rain” singer posted a mock-up cover for his new track to accompany the Youtube link, with comedian Dave Chappelle somberly dressed as Prince, holding a silver platter of pancakes.

In the hilarious image, a nod to Chappelle’s 2004 skit called “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories: Prince,” the funnyman dons a wild wig, pencil-thin goatee, black eyeliner and a velvet blazer to look like the legendary musician.
“Game, Blouses,” the 55-year-old singer captioned the shot, a direct reference to Chappelle’s skit. The musician only currently entered the realm of social media on Aug. 13, through his female backup band’s 3rd Eye Girl account, and has been tweeting ever since.
Chappelle, meanwhile, is currently staging a return to the spotlight after a seven-year hiatus; the 39-year-old comedian abruptly left the limelight in 2005, fleeing to Africa and telling Time magazine at the time that he wanted to “make sure I’m dancing and not shuffling.”
“I’m going to find a way to be myself,” he said during an interview on Inside the Actors Studio in early 2006.
