Far from predictable! The 2014 Golden Globe Awards provided plenty of surprises and upsets on Sunday, Jan. 12. Though some winners were certainly expected — like director Alfonso Cuaron's win for his technologically advanced Gravity — others provided viewers with unforeseeable wins and upsets.

1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Andy Samberg Win Big
Not a joke! When Andy Samberg's name was called in the Best Actor in a Television Series category, the funny man looked more stunned than excited. "Oh no! I didn't prepare anything. It wasn't going to happen!" he declared when stepping onto the stage. In his first time at the Globes, Samberg beat out Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons, last year's winner Don Cheadle, Arrested Development's Jason Bateman, and comedic legend Michael J. Fox.
But the Fox comedy's luck didn't run out there. In a shocking twist, Brooklyn Nine-Nine won the award for Best Television Series for comedy, beating out The Big Bang Theory, Girls, perennial winner Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation.
2. Amy Poehler Nabs Her First Golden Globe
Though she was certainly comfortable onstage while hosting the awards with BFF Tina Fey, Amy Poehler seemed adorably flabbergasted when accepting her first Golden Globe for her role as Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. Though she kept her wits about her long enough to make out with Bono before heading up to the stage, she was out of breath and genuinely animated while giving her acceptance speech.
"I've never won anything like this!" she exclaimed.
3. Jon Voight Beats Breaking Bad
After Breaking Bad's final, critically acclaimed season, the AMC drama seemed like the drama to beat this year. But seasoned actor Jon Voight shocked viewers when he took home the award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series, beating out Breaking Bad fan favorite Aaron Paul. Voight's role as Mickey Donovan on the Showtime drama Ray Donovan managed to snag the award over Paul's Jesse Pinkman — the flawed-yet-lovable sidekick to star Walter White (Bryan Cranston, who won for his role).
4. Jacqueline Bisset Bests Sofia Vergara
The Starz miniseries Dancing on the Edge was one of the lesser-known nominees from Sunday's Golden Globes. So when star Jacqueline Bisset won the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series or Miniseries, many were surprised. She beat out Parenthood fan favorite Monica Potter and Modern Family's Colombian powerhouse Sofia Vergara, and viewers were just as astounded as the actress clearly was. But that was nothing compared to the 69-year-old's awkward, disjointed acceptance speech.
5. Jennifer Lawrence Beats Julia Roberts and Lupita N'yongo
Sure, she's America's sweetheart, but Jennifer Lawrence had some fierce competition! Breakout star Lupita N'yongo received heaps of acclaim for her brutal role in 12 Years a Slave, and Julia Roberts' emotion-fueled performance in August: Osage County was also getting plenty of recognition. So when Lawrence took the stage for her role in American Hustle, it wasn't exactly a given.
