All is well on the relationship front in Gaga Land. Lady Gaga ramped up the PDA at Sunday’s YouTube Music Awards and effectively squashed a new report that she and her boyfriend of two years Taylor Kinney had split.
British newspaper The Sun claimed over the weekend that the pop star, 27, and hunky Chicago Fire actor, 32, had broken up over Gaga’s “insane workload” and “alter-egos.” But a source close to Gaga assures Us Weekly, “This is not true.”
A video posted to Instagram on Sunday of the two embracing and acting couple-like at the awards show held in NYC furthermore squashed any suggestion of relational woes between Gaga and Kinney. The ARTPOP singer — still wearing her crazy set of teeth and plaid shirt from her emotional performance of “Dope” — went from crying on stage in the live-streamed show to smooching Kinney backstage as seen in the Instagram video posted by former Idol contestant Alex Ryan.
A week before Gaga’s YouTube performance, Kinney was photographed at a Red Sox-Cardinals baseball game with his Chicago Fire co-star Brittany Curran, leading fans to speculate that the actor had moved on from the provocative superstar. The couple was last snapped together in August, when the “Applause” singer flashed her butt and thong in a sheer bodysuit during a Hollywood date night. Kinney kept it low-key during the outing in jeans, a black hoodie and chucks. On Sunday, the two looked matchy-matchy in baseball hats and casual wear.
Kinney and Gaga first met in July 2011 when he starred in the singer’s “You And I” music video. They started dating several months later, split briefly in May 2012, and got back together the following month. Although Gaga is well-known for her bizarre antics both on and off stage, Kinney, who spends most of his time shooting in Chicago, told Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb in Oct. 2012 that his relationship with the superstar was “normal in that respect.”
“For whatever reason it works,” he added. “I’m a happy guy, I’m a lucky guy.”
