Jeff Daniels Tweets Photo With Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber To

Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey in filming Dumb and Dumber
"We're back!" Emmy winner Jeff Daniels captioned a funny snapshot of himself with Jim Carrey on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

This just in: Jeff Daniels has already traded in his suit and tie for a trusty hoodie and T-shirt getup. The actor took home the Best Actor in a Drama Emmy for his lead role on HBO’s The Newsroom on Sunday, Sept. 22, but on Tuesday, Daniels returned to his comedic roots, posting a goofy snapshot of himself and Jim Carrey in full Dumb and Dumber character.

“We’re back!” the 58-year-old actor captioned the photo, in which he reprises his role as air-headed Harry Dunne to Carrey’s charismatic Lloyd Christmas. In the funny snapshot, Daniels’ hair is mussed up and he holds a silly grin on his face. Carrey, 51, rocks his familiar bowl-cut hairdo and chipped front tooth.

In the 1994 original, the dynamic duo played a pair of besties who got into (mis)adventures trying to return a briefcase full of cash to Lloyd’s crush, Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly). Their shenanigans include a run-in with some dead parakeets and owls, explosive diarrhea, and one very iconic furry, dog-eared van.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels played a pair of goofball best friends in the original 1994 Dumb and Dumber.

“There are some things that we’re going to do in Dumb and Dumber To that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame,” Daniels told reporters on Sunday night. “[It] pales in comparison and I can’t divulge what, but just that they’ve topped it.”

Since Dumb and Dumber, Daniels has gone on to take roles in films as varied as The Squid and the Whale, Good Night and Good Luck, Away We Go, and Looper

The actor told Us Weekly that he’s excited to reunite with his partner-in-crime once more, however.

“I’m very excited to work with Jim Carrey again,” he told Us at the Emmys. “The guy is a comedic genius and all I can really tell you is that in the sequel, we are middle-aged and still that stupid! I can’t wait to work with Jim Carrey again. Can’t wait. We’re middle aged but still that stupid.”
