Lauren Silverman's former teacher is crying foul on reports that he was involved in a relationship with the pregnant New York City socialite when she was his student at Miami Country Day School. In an email to the New York Daily News, Steve Lewis denied claims that he was kicked out of the school for having a sexual relationship with Silverman.
"There was never any month, month and a half, or two-month affair between me and a student," Lewis wrote. "There was a drunken phone call, late at night, for which I am eternally sorry and remorseful and for which I resigned the following day OVER 20 YEARS AGO."
"Was I naive and even a bit flirtatious with someone 9 years my junior? Yes," he continued. "Was she more sophisticated and wise beyond her years and a socialite even then? Yes."
That said, Lewis insists he and Silverman never had a relationship. And he doesn't think it's relevant to her current situation anyway.
As Us Weekly exclusively revealed on July 31, Silverman is expecting a baby with X Factor judge Simon Cowell, who was close friends with her estranged husband, Andrew Silverman. "Lauren has loved Simon forever," a source reveals in the Aug. 19 issue of Us Weekly. "And they started having an affair four years ago."
"Simon and Lauren are together," a Silverman family source added. "They talk 100 times a day."
