Amanda Bynes’ Psychiatric Hold Extended for 30 Days: Report

Scheduled to attend a hearing regarding her parents request for conservatorship on Aug. 9, doctors reportedly extended Amanda Bynes' psychiatric hold for 30 days.

Amanda Bynes will reportedly not be appearing in court on Friday, Aug. 9. According to TMZ, the 27-year-old actress' psychiatric hold has been extended for 30 days under doctors' orders.

Bynes was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 9 in order for a judge to determine whether or not to grant the star's parents' conservatorship request. But TMZ reports that a judge, after traveling to the hospital, granted doctors' request to extend Bynes' psychiatric hold for an additional 30 days, which requires the patient to be "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder."

The former Nickelodeon star was initially placed on an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold on July 22, after allegedly starting a fire in a stranger's driveway in her hometown of Thousand Oaks, Calif. A judge then granted a request to extend Bynes' mental health evaluation by two weeks.

On July 25, Bynes' parents, Rick and Lynn, filed to impose a conservatorship on their daughter. At the time, the Ventura County judge presiding over the case said he needed face-to-face time with Bynes to render his decision.
