Ahmad "Real" Givens is slowly but surely getting his health back on track. The Real Chance of Love star underwent an operation to remove most of the cancerous growths from his colon on Wednesday, Dec. 18, TMZ reports. However, the surgery turned out to be far worse than first anticipated.
According to the site, during Givens' surgery, doctors also found seven tumors in his liver. After removing some of the cancer from his colon, doctors then removed all but a small portion from his liver. Radiation will hopefully eliminate anything else that was hard to locate.
On March 21, it was revealed that the VH1 reality contestant, 33, was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer. One week later, he began chemotherapy at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.
"Real is in good spirits but a lot of pain," Givens' rep told Us Weekly at the time. His family also set up a website to help raise money for the treatment, because insurance only covered "about 40 percent" of the procedure.
Givens first appeared on VH1 in the reality series I Love New York in 2007. The Stallionaires rapper then went on to star in his own dating game show, Real Chance of Love, with his brother Kamal "Chance" Givens from 2008 to 2009, and Real & Chance: The Legend Hunters in 2010.
