Neil Patrick Harris Dons Drag For the Broadway Revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch: First Look!

That's a lot of glitter! The up-close-and-personal poster for the Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch was released today featuring Neil Patrick Harris in the role of the transgender rocker. 

The show's first poster features Harris licking his blue glitter-covered slips as glitter eyeliner streams down his face.

The How I Met Your Mother star, 40, will play the central character in the musical — the East German transgender singer who fronts the fictional rock band Hedwig and the Angry Inch. John Cameron Mitchell played Hedwig in the 2001 film, which he also wrote and directed. 

Harris is no stranger to the Big White Way. He's held a variety of roles in iconic plays and musicals from Cabaret to Stephen Sondheim's Assassins

The comedian has hosted the Tony Awards four times, for which he has earned him three of his four Emmy Awards. 

Hedwig originated Off-Broadway in 1998 before traveling the globe. The rock musical was awarded the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical.

“I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig’s heels,” Harris said in a previous statement.
