What a lucky guy! Miley Cyrus may have declined his invite to prom, but Matt Peterson got a much sweeter deal when he was invited on stage during Cyrus’ Phoenix, Ariz. show on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Cyrus, 21, serenaded Peterson with her romantic ballad “Adore You” in front of the cheering crowd during her Bangerz Tour. The high school student decided to go shirtless for the song, and the “Wrecking Ball” singer embraced him for most of the performance. But first, he presented Cyrus with a corsage (as he previously promised in his video invite).
“I was in this position once before and it didn’t work out too well — the last time a guy got on one knee for me,” Cyrus sniped, recalling her proposal from now ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth. “Hopefully this will be better.”
On Jan. 31, Peterson posted a viral video asking Cyrus to be his date to his high school prom. “Miley, I have been a fan of yours from the beginning,” he wrote in the message under his YouTube video. “You’ve changed my life, and I want to repay you by giving you the best night of your life. In order to do that, allow me to take you to my Prom on May 3, 2014.” In the clip, the 17-year-old fan went naked, and held a bouquet of red roses.
Cyrus declined the invite, but clearly made up for it! “Dear Matt Peterson, I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to prom BUT why don’t you come to my AZ show & hang w me? Don’t forget a corsage,” she responded at the time.
Looks like they both kept up their side of the deal!
