A new baby brings new changes! During the TCAs panel for her new CBS comedy Mom on Monday, July 29, actress Anna Faris admitted that the choice to move from the big screen to TV had a lot to do with becoming a new mom to son Jack, 11 months.
"I have a son," she reasoned as to why she took the leap. "So I was sort of thinking, 'You know, maybe I'll just let my husband [Chris Pratt] work, and I'll just laze around, sit by the pool." Though she said that was half the truth, the 36-year-old admitted she didn't necessarily want to get back to work right away. "Different priorities," she explained.
But her choice to go with the new role actually had a lot to do with the Parks and Recreation actor. "I had left the [Mom] script on the kitchen counter, and my husband picked it up. And he read the first page, and he said, 'Whatever you're doing, put it down right now.' He's like, 'This is you.' And it felt like that."
The Scary Movie actress quickly realized it was the perfect fit, too. "Every once in a while you get fortunate enough to play a role that kind of feels like Cinderella’s shoe. And this felt like she’s so dimensional. She’s a mess, which very much like me. And it’s a story about relationships and character. So that format was really appealing to me. I’ve played a lot of one-dimensional characters in my career that haven’t been so bright."
Faris and Pratt, 34, welcomed little Jack, their first child, August 2012.
"It makes me crazy when I'm not holding him," the actress told Us Weekly in May 2013 while attending CBS' Upfront event in New York City. "People keep saying, 'Enjoy your baby.' At first I didn't really know what that meant. 'Enjoy your baby?' I don't know! Am I enjoying this? I'm bored and it's hard work!" she said. "But it is true."
