Payback! Well, sort of. Jared Leto got photobombed and did some more bombing himself after snagging the Best Supporting Oscar at the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2. The Dallas Buyers Club actor kept it together at the award show, but later let loose while attending Vanity Fair’s big bash.
Leto, 42, was first ambushed by the gorgeous Lupita Nyong’o while backstage at the Dolby Theatre. In a hilarious snapshot, the star is oblivious to Nyong’o, 31, standing behind him with her mouth wide open. The 31-year-old actress, who snagged the female Best Supporting category for 12 Years a Slave, also had her gold statue in hand. (Leto had crashed a photo of Ireland Baldwin and House of Cards‘ Kevin Spacey hours earlier on the red carpet.)
The new friends had a fun road together during awards season. The Kenyan native laughed off rumors that she had hooked up with Leto during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month. Leto, in turn, turned up the charm during his Independent Spirit Awards speech by thanking his future ex-wife. “Lupita, I’m thinking about you baby,” he quipped on March 1.
Nyong’o had her fun, but Leto stepped it up a notch when he later crashed one of Anne Hathaway‘s red carpet photos later that evening at the Vanity Fair after party. The 30 Seconds to Mars rocker waved his hands behind Hathaway, 31, until she caught him in the act. The pair laughed it off before heading into the star-studded event. (Last year, Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Les Miserables and presented Leto with his Oscar this year, as per tradition.)
