Gwyneth Paltrow's rep says reports that she asked friends to boycott Vanity Fair's Oscars party are "completely false"

Gwyneth Paltrow's pals can party on guilt-free. Though recent reports claim that the Iron Man 3 actress, 41, has asked her famous friends to boycott Vanity Fair's usually star-studded annual Oscars bash next year, a rep for Paltrow says she's done no such thing.

"Gwyneth has not asked anyone to not attend the party," her rep told the U.K.'s Daily Mail, calling the rumors "completely false." (The Oscar winner has been a guest at the fete in the past; she most recently attended in 2012.)

The star has reportedly been at odds with the influential pop-culture magazine over an article they're planning to publish about her in an upcoming issue. "We started a story on her," editor-in-chief Graydon Carter told the Times of London in October. "We have a very good writer and it'll run."

Paltrow allegedly tried to prevent the piece from happening earlier this year. According to a report from The New York Times, she wrote an email to her celebrity friends asking them to refrain from speaking about her with the magazine.

"Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine," the Goop founder reportedly wrote in May. "If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again."

Publicly, the mother of two has said she's done caring what people think of her. "The older I get I realize it doesn't matter what people who don't know you think. It doesn't matter," she told Red magazine in a recent interview. "You're wasting your energy. It's like, if your partner comes to you — or your best friend — and says, like, 'Listen, I want to talk about something you did that hurt me, or I think you could improve,' sit down and listen to what they have to say. But some friend of so-and-sos — it's like, who gives a s–t?"
