Alec Baldwin has landed a new current events show on MSNBC two weeks after the former 30 Rock star and his wife Hilaria Baldwin welcomed a baby girl

New dad Alec Baldwin is getting back to work! The former 30 Rock star is set to host a new current events show on MSNBC. The new series — Up Late with Alec Baldwin — will premiere in October, and will air at 10 p.m. on Fridays.

"After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I've developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented and engaging people in every imaginable field," Baldwin said in a statement. "I'm grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television." In April, the 55-year-old actor was rumored to be keeping his options open for a new show to host.

Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC, added: "I've been talking with Alec for a while and can't wait to bring his personality and eclectic interests to MSNBC. He's got such passion for ideas and what's going on in the world – he’s going to be a great addition to our line-up."

The new gig will definitely be keeping Baldwin busy. The news comes just two weeks after the actor and his wife, Hilaria Thomas Baldwin, welcomed their first child together on Aug. 23, Carmen Gabriela.
