Russell Brand's love affair with the single life continues.
After recently declaring himself off the market, saying he was "beleaguered by a nerdish, whirling dervish" – referring to political journalist Jemima Khan – and "eschewing all others," the comedian is once again on the prowl.
The 38-year-old Brit announced his relationship status change during the Atlanta stop on his Messiah Complex world tour, telling the crowd, "I'm currently single." He then promptly kissed several women in the audience.
Those kisses were caught on camera — natch! The "Brand X" host dropped down on his hands and knees and puckered up with some willing participants in the front row.
Brand isn't exactly known for his long-term relationships — his marriage to Katy Perry was over in 14 months — but things seemed promising with Khan, whom he met in 2011. Earlier this month he was seen squiring the brunette beauty, who has two sons with her ex-husband, former Pakistani cricket player Imran Khan, and dated Hugh Grant, and declared his affection for her in a story he wrote for the Guardian.
In the article, he said that he was "in love," which is something we hadn't heard from him since his early days of wooing Perry.
Meanwhile, in a new interview, the "Roar" singer, who is now happily dating John Mayer, revealed that her divorce from Brand left her in such bad shape she suffered suicidal thoughts. Talking about her new track "By the Grace of God," she told Billboard, "That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, 'Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?'"
Now she's in a good place when it comes to her love life. In fact, she's enamored.
"He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting," Perry said of Mayer. "I always tell him, 'Darling, you know I'm going to have to give your mind to science after you've passed, because we're going to have to understand how all these sparks work.'"
As for Brand, it seems he will continue his own search for a "darling" of his own…while continuing to have lots of fun along the way.
