Lena Headey’s Textured Bob at Game of Thrones Season 4 Premiere: All the Details

Lena Headey showed off her short hair at the Game of Thrones premiere.

Lena Headey left the long blonde hair of her fabulously cruel character Cersei Lannister on set for the Game of Thrones season four premiere in New York City on March 18. And her textured brunette bob turned more heads than her character has ordered to be chopped off.

Headey, 40, recently cut her hair from below her shoulders to just above the chin. “I went to do a photo shoot and my hair was wet because I had just washed it and the guy said, ‘What should we do?’ and I said, ‘Just cut it off because it’s going to take hours to dry,'” she told Us Weekly on the red carpet.

The modern style was created by Mark Townsend, who also works with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and Lea Michele. “For the Game of Thrones premiere it was all about relaxed glamour for Lena Headey,” he told Us Weekly. “I loved her Jenny Packham dress and felt it was very pretty yet edgy so I wanted her hair to have the same feeling.”

He first applied Dove Oxygen Moisture Leave In Foam to Headey’s damp hair and scrunched it dry with his hands using a diffuser. “I love keeping as much of Lena’s natural wave in the hair and this foam doesn’t weigh the hair down or get crunchy,” Townsend tells Us. “And it gives the hair tons of volume.”

Next he made a deep side part and sprayed Sally Hershberger Salon Texture Blast Spray all over for texture and light hold. Townsend braided one side of her hair and laid it on top of her hair at the back, tucking the ends under. “I think the braid sitting on top of that heavily textured bob makes this look so modern and fresh,” he said. To finish the style, he combed through a few drops of Dove Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment for shine.
