Lots of love from Lil Wayne! Christina Milian‘s No. 1 priority is daughter Violet, 5, but as the singer tells Us Weekly, seeing her little girl bond with boyfriend Lil Wayne is pretty special, too. “They know and recognize each other — he’s very much a part of my life and Violet is very much a part of my relationship,” Milian, 33, told Us at the 16th Annual NALIP Latino Media Awards on Saturday, June 27, in Los Angeles.
One year into their relationship, Milian — who sparked dating rumors when performing with Wayne, 32, at the 2014 American Music Awards — says she’s taking it slow when it comes to Violet bonding with Mom’s man. “She is very close to her dad, so Violet has her dad in her life, she has us in her life, so in time [they’ll develop a closer bond]. It’ll take some time,” the Christina Milian Turned Up reality star said Milian split from Violet’s father, rapper The-Dream, three months after their wedding in December 2009.
Hard at work on a new EP and the opening of her We Are Pop Culture clothing store, Milian has her hands full this summer, but is relishing the alone time she has with Violet and Wayne. “I’m pretty busy right now but I have to live in the moment and go on vacation later,” she told Us. “Our time together is like a vacation no matter what.”
At just 5 years old, Violet also has a packed summer schedule. “What is she not doing?” Mom wondered when asked about her daughter’s milestones. “She’s learning how to swim and is full of character. She just surprises me every day.”
