Maximizing the diss! Ronan Farrow picked a prime moment during the 2014 Golden Globes to slam Woody Allen — during a tribute for the director Sunday, Jan. 12, that included a short film of his best movies.
Farrow, 26 — the son of Allen's ex, Mia Farrow, 68 — took to his Twitter to awaken a 20-year-old family feud of sorts. "Missed the Woody Allen tribute — did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?" he tweeted Sunday. (Allen's favorite leading lady Diane Keaton gave a speech in his place after the director, 78, who's known for dodging awards shows, skipped the Globes Sunday.) Mom Mia retweeted her son's rant.
A source tells Us Weekly that Ronan "wanted to remind people what went down." The blonde-haired, blue-eyed new MSNBC star was just 4-years-old when his mother and Allen split in 1992 in the wake of Allen's affair with Soon-Yi Previn, Mia's adopted daughter with Andre Previn. During the span of their 12-year-long relationship, the Blue Jasmine director and Rosemary's Baby actress adopted son Moses and daughter Dylan together, and welcomed Ronan in 1987.
The MSNBC broadcaster also retweeted on Sunday a piece by Vanity Fair that revisited his sister Dylan's accusation that Allen sexually abused her at age 7. In a 1992 interview with 60 Minutes, the director denied the claims, calling them "unconscionable" and "insane." The charges, which were filed during a custody battle between Farrow and Allen, were later dropped.
The insider adds Ronan never accepted how Allen left his mom for his adopted sister Previn after their scandalous affair — the two even went on to marry in 1997. "He still finds it unbelievable," the source tells Us.
